    netherlands.. not so perfect!

im just so dissappointed at the netherlands.  everyone who knows me knows that ive always thought of amsterdam as the land of milk and honey.  gezellig.  i admire their acceptance and resolution to issues like gay marriage, euthanasia, and drug use

but then ayaan hirsi ali happened.   ayaan is a somalian who fleed to the netherlands under false personal information to gain asylum.  the netherlands has allegedly juuust found out and, therefore, has revoked her dutch citizenship.

like mario vargas llosa proclaims, the netherland loses.  they lose ayaan, the advocate for freedom of speech and rights of women.  i guess the US wins, as she will be migrating there to work for a think tank.  the US can be cool like that...

    happy world refugee day, ayaan!

    colbert cares!

stephen colbert... true american hero!  his act at the white house correspondents dinner was... uhm... a-mazing!  his sarcasm truly showed, once again, an insight on the bush administration self-interested proceedings.

george w bush... not impressed with him. and why would he be when he and his administration were wittily slashed?  wonder if he noticed at all... on his own.

    "Go F*** Yourself, Mr. Cheney!"

Dick Cheney laughs off being cursed on camera by Ben Marble, a physician/rocker/artist with a newborn child that lost his house because of Hurricane Katrina.  Not too funny.  Let's not forget Cheney's infamous incident in the Senator floor when he told Senator Leahy "go f*** yourself".  Ironic, isn't it?  Except instead of Cheney losing his house in the hurricane that day, he was actually shopping for a $2.9 million one next to Donald Rumsfeld's.  Must be nice.

Thanks to OpED for the story.

    corporate world to hope

she emailed me this.  neither of us really liked working for a big corporation.  she made it out of there.  im in the works.  i will soon.

"... the corporate world to me became more of a joke every day, to the last second I was there.  It was like I could count the minutes till Tweedle Corporate girl A would say "hello", and when Tweedle Corporate girl B would ask me either "How was your night"  or "how was your weekend?!"    The fake hellos, the fake laughs, the kiss ass attitudes of people.    I know it sounds silly, but the shit we would discuss in meetings, was bullshit.  And I just hate that corporate mentality.  It's like living back in the medieval times when there were peasants, and kings and queens...   I feel like the way people used to live has changed from the heirarchy of the medieval times, into the heirarchy of corporate world.   They are nobody on the oustide, they don't know the cool clubs to go to, or where to get the latest fashions, fuck they might not even have that many friends, but inside the corporate world they have a place... a status.  And that status means more inside the walls of the corporate world than out.     It's like this.

You have your higher ups, ceo's, managers and the like, (the kings and queens and their footsman)  the worker bee's that get shit done for no money (the peasants) and for what?  The good of the president for the company?  The company has been replaced by what once was a city.  A city of ideals to "mission statements" and "agendas" and weekly stupid-ass meetings.  YOu live and work in a city for the good of the city and the kings and queens make you work like a peasant for pennies, to be strapped to your chair for 9 hours a day.   You give your time away for what?  not for the city.. not for the betterment of the company.. even tho the managers think you are.   Whatever... some people actually think you want to work there in their city of corporate world for the betterment of the corporation ie the city.   My whole point is this... Status is key.  And status has changed from what we used to have to earn on the outside world through hardwork to sucking up, knowing the right people in the city, and brown-nosing a bit.. it's heirarchical, and people show off their status in the corporate world by bying expensive appendages of what they feel will show off their status in the world they try to live in.  BMW, Mercedes, LV shoes, Purse.. so on.   I hate corporate.  hate it.   Did I tell you I turned down a 40K job and told the recruiter I would NOT have taken it, if they offered me 50K....   girl.. it was soo corporate..   I was sitting there during the interview thinking, I can't lie to myself.  I Hate this fake, do-gooder to get somewhere attitude for some asshole that could give a shit less, and only has a status within this world when in fact outside, they are nothing.   It's fightclub all the way man.. and I really liked that movie, if you couldn't tell.

Um, sorry to go off there, but fuck.. hate it."

    so true.
